La Porte ISD music programs receive Sweepstakes at annual spring event

To achieve the Sweepstakes honor, an orchestra, band or choir must receive composite Division One ratings from judges.

La Porte and Lomax Jr High orchestras achieved the feat during this assessment at Beverly Hills Intermediate School in Pasadena ISD.  Three of four La Porte High School orchestra groups received Sweepstakes at Pasadena Dobie High School.

All La Porte orchestra groups received a composite Division One rating for the concert portion of the assessment. The La Porte High School Symphony Orchestra, which is a combination of top band and orchestra instrumentalists, was the only (symphony orchestra) in the region to garner Sweepstakes.
